Climate change is expected to have severe and far-reaching impacts on ecosystems, economies, and societies worldwide, and vulnerable populations are likely to be disproportionately affected. Capacity building can include a range of activities, such as training, education, research, policy development, and infrastructure development. By building capacity across sectors and governments, individuals and communities can better understand the risks and vulnerabilities associated with climate change and develop strategies to minimize the negative impacts and maximize opportunities.
