Webinar: Professions Advancing Adaptation Competencies – Insights and Opportunities
Wednesday, May 20, 2026 – 11:00 am – 12:00 pm PT / 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm ET / 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm AT
The impacts of climate change are rapidly shifting the needs and expectations of Canada’s workforce. To meet these shifting demands and to achieve the climate upskilling targets outlined in Canada’s National Adaptation Strategy, tangible pathways for climate change adaptation capacity building are increasingly essential for practitioners working across Canada.
The Professions Advancing Adaptation Competencies (PAAC) project examined how climate action competencies can be strengthened and embedded within practice across the Accounting, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, and Planning professions.
Join us on May 20th in conversation with Dr. Robin S. Cox, Irene Wiecek (Accounting), Paul Cobb (Engineering), Gordon Smith (Landscape Architecture), and Stephanie Gagnon (Planning). Following a brief introduction to the PAAC project and climate adaptation competencies, each Lead will highlight lessons learned and explore perspectives on the next steps to advance climate action across each of the four professions.
The conversation will also highlight lessons learned and explore perspectives on how each Lead envisions the output being used to advance climate adaptation capacity building within each profession beyond the project conclusion.
