Webinar: Climate Resiliency in Transportation Research

Climate risks and disruptions from extreme weather events pose significant challenges to transportation systems, including rail and road infrastructure. In this webinar, participants explored the National Research Council of Canada’s (NRC) latest initiatives on climate resilience. Presenters discussed a key project focused on identifying gaps in climate mitigation guidelines for rail passenger transit and the creation of guidance documents to enhance transit agency preparedness. Additionally, participants gained insights into projects on winter road climate prediction, vegetation and flooding monitoring for rail, and crosswind analysis for trucks. These initiatives aim to help transportation stakeholders identify vulnerabilities and bolster their climate resilience.
