Northern Climate Change Network (2018–2019)

The Climate Risk Institute is leading the Northern Climate Change Network (NCCN) – a group of five municipalities in northern Ontario looking to assess and manage the impacts of climate change on their communities, infrastructure, and natural systems. This initiative will lead to a reduction in climate change vulnerability for municipalities through two main areas. First, the NCCN facilitates peer-to-peer dialogue and organizes learning opportunities for municipal staff and leaders, and develops northern-focused adaptation resources. Second, recognizing that each municipality will be at different stages in the adaptation planning process, the Climate Risk Institute is providing additional support in initiating or advancing climate change risk assessment and climate change adaptation for each participating community. This initiative is offered through the Municipalities for Climate Innovation Program, which is delivered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and funded by the Government of Canada.
